Sono state rese note il 5 gennaio 2006 le nomination ai dodicesimi premi del Sindacato degli attori statunitensi, lo Screen Actors Guild. Sancito un nuovo trionfo per il superbo lavoro di Ang Lee, Brokeback Mountain: un totale di quattro candidature, quelle per il miglior attore (Heath Ledger), il miglior attore non protagonista (Jake Gyllenhaal), la migliore attrice non protagonista (Michelle Williams) e il miglior cast.
Si tratta degli indizi più preziosi, dopo le candidature ai Golden Globe, sulle scelte che l'Academy farà per le categorie degli interpreti.
La cerimonia di consegna dei riconoscimenti avrà luogo il 29 gennaio presso lo Shrine Exposition Center di Los Angeles.
