Sono stati consegnati gli Oscar della 82. edizione degli Academy Awards che hanno incoronato la sua regina, Kathryn Bigelow, regista di "The Hurt Locker", già protagonista della Mostra del Cinema del 2008 che ha sconfitto il favoritissimo "Avatar" dell'ex marito James Cameron, portando a casa 6 statuette, tra cui quelle per il miglior film, miglior regia, miglior sceneggiatura originale, miglior montaggio, miglior sonoro. Premi anche a Sandra Bullock per “The Blind Side”, Jeff Bridges per il ruolo di un musicista country in “Crazy Heart”, al bravissimo Christoph Waltz di “Inglourious Basterds” di Tarantino e all'attrice coprotagonista di "Precious" Mo’Nique.
